The Hero's Quest 5 stanges in the Hero's Quest

This year I learned how to cut down a longer video clip, to a shorter one using Kapwing Video Trimmer, which is a free programme.

I made short video clips to show some of the steps in the Hero’s Quest.  I put the short video clips about Lion King Into a slide show.

I also used a “How to” YouTube video online to convert my slide show into a presentation in this blog.

Short Story - Question & Clarify

Short Story - Question & Clarify

Neglect

Questions (wonderings)

Clarify (meanings)

The windscreen wipers worked furiously to clear the glass from the driving rain. It was no use, he still couldn’t see, so he pulled into a side street and waited for the pelting sheet to ease.

Flicking through the radio, a wavering squeal emerged, quickly changing into a fast beated pop song.  Jonesie, as he was called on the rank, shuffled lower into his seat and settled down to waited. Looking up to change the crackling station, he noticed a brown-coated figure huddling in the meagre shelter of a deserted warehouse. Jonesie studied the figure and decided, being a kind-hearted man, that he would try and do something to help.

As Jonesie neared, the brown-coated figure started to shift uneasily, looking up with fearful brown eyes.

“You look pretty cold out here, would you like to come and sit in my taxi till the rain eases off a bit?”, Jonesie asked sincerely.

After waiting a bit and receiving no reply, Jonesie headed back for the warmth of the taxi. When he neared the car, he noticed someone behind him and turning around saw that the brown-coated figure had followed him to the car.

“So you decided to come then, eh mate?”, Jonesie queried heavily, as he helped the figure into the passenger seat.  Closing the door, Jonesie thought about what might happen to this poor guy.

In the car, Jonesie changed the station yet again finding a country song he thoroughly enjoyed. After the song had finished, he flicked the radio off and turned to his bedraggled guest, noticing that his bones almost protruded through the coat.

“So, aye, where do you come from then mate?”, inquired Jonesie. “That’s if you don’t mind me asking?”

His only reply was the turning of the brown-coated figures head, to stare wonderingly out into the menacing dark sky.

Jonesie tried again, “Eh, um, what’s ya name then?”

The brown-coated figure turned his head in the direction of Jonesie and blinked his fearful brown eyes in reply.

Silence followed, Jonesie thinking of what he could do for his silent guest.

Jonesie flicked on the radio again, it crackled and hissed, and then resumed into some teenage trash.

“Come on mate, you must be starving. Lets take ya home and give ya some tucker”, Jonesie said.

The brown-coated figure did not move and his answer was only a deep sigh.

The rain had eased and as they drove, the road glistened like oil. Jonesie had finished his shift, so there were no problems. When they got inside his house, Jonesie helped the figure to dry himself, but he never took his coat off.  Jonesie thought this a bit odd but made no further inquiries.  He prepared a meal and the brown- coated figure warmed himself in front of the blazing fire.

Six months later, the brown-coated figure and Jonesie spend every night in the taxi, listening to the crackling radio and sharing long conversations with many pauses and deep sighs of reply.

The fearful brown eyes are fearful no more and the ragged, tatty coat has been replaced by a thick, warm one.

Jonesie and the brown-coated figure spend all their time together, after all, dogs are a mans best friend.

The Greek Myth

The Greek Myth I am studying is called Trojan War
Helen of Troy, born in Sparta believe to be the daughter of Zeus, the king of the Olympian gods, and a mortal woman named Leda, She's either the daughter of Leda or by Nemesis, and sister of the Dioscuri.
She was the most beautiful woman who has ever lived and the indirect cause of Trojan War. Her reputation was so great that even as a young child. She was abducted by Theseus. He kidnapped her and hid her in his city of Athens, but she was rescued by her brothers.

Helen's suitors including Odysseus came from all part of Greece, and from among them she chose Menelaus, Agamemnon's younger brother. During an absence of Menelaus, however, Helen fled to Troy with Paris, son of the Trojan King Priam, an act, that ultimately led to the Trojan War. When Paris was slain, Helen was forced to marry Deiphobus, one of Paris' brothers. whom she betrayed to Menelaus once Troy was captured. Menelaus and Helen then returned to Sparta, where they lived happily until their deaths.

All About Me

ALL ABOUT ME
ANGEL

My name is Angel and it originally came from Greek angelos the
The word took on the meaning “ divine messenger, messenger of god.” Two famous people with my
name are Angel Locsin and Angel Haze. Angel Locsin Colmenares is a Filipina television and film
actress, commercial model, film producer and fashion designer. Angel Haze is an American rapper and
singer. I am quite happy with my first name but only my family and friends called me “gel.” My parents
chose this name because my mom's doctor told her that she won't be able to have a child then a
few months mom gets pregnant so they name me Angel because it is a blessing to have me in their life.
I would not change my name

This is my Avatar and I made it on the Cartoonify website. I download the image and then
I download it on google docs. I like this site because you can change images. I prefer dark colours
for my background so we can easily see the images. I choose this avatar because these images
represent who I am.

I have books but I more likely read them on my phone that are all time favorites and
I read them when I don’t know what to read next.
I love to read lying on the bed. My favourite is when it rains outside while listening to music.
I don’t have a favourite character and books. It is hard to choose which one of them is the best.
I started reading for real at the age of 9. I found reading easy.
My advice to someone who struggles to read -  don’t give yourself a hard time to read.
Listen to music that doesn't distract you and find a place that is comfortable for you to read.

I am good at being positive when things go wrong. I know I do this because my mom
tells me to just be positive in everything. I am patient and kind.I am not really good at sports but I
am good at listening and getting on with people who are respecting you and  understanding .
I am not that confident but I am trying to be one.

I was in the Philippines when the earthquake happened. I am writing about the 2013 Typhoon
Haiyan, in the Philippines as super typhoon Yolanda, was one of the most powerful tropical cyclones
ever recorded. On making landfall, Haiyan devastated portions of Southeast Asia, particularly the
Philippines.

The place I love to be is our house and store (Philippines). I like to be at home because
I am comfortable and it’s my comfort zone.

The person I visit the most is my family because they are in the Philippines.
I most often visit my parents. My mom and dad live in Auckland.
I live with my Aunty and her children because I am only 13 and I am not allowed to leave at home alone.
We visit them every 2 weeks during the school holiday. My family inspires me because they are always
positive, supportive and making you and others happy.

I want to be an architect but somehow I want to be a chef. I am not sure about it because
I can’t see myself being like an architect and chef.

I want to be an architect and chef. I started thinking about being an architect or chef when I was young.
I would like to live in the Philippines again. After school I would like to visit other countries to learn about
other cultures. I don’t know how much money I will need, I will have to find that out.
I might have to save while I am at school to have enough money.

Challenge
This year I want to be more organised and make sure I have everything I need in my bag for school
when I leave home.
Achieve
When I don’t understand, be brave and put my hand up and try to ask someone in my class..
Responsibility
Do the right thing and not worry about what someone else is doing.
Empathy
Speak more. I am not that talkative when I am not around my friend.
